Did you know what the Romans used to align their teeth?

They said they used gold, but often they used thin gold wire or something called catgut. 

And what is catgut? It's made from the intestines of sheep and goats. Yuck! But it was a super-strong material that could really straighten teeth. So next time you don't like your orthodontic wires, be glad they're not catgut!
